CRACOW – HISTORIC AND CULTURAL CAPITAL OF POLAND – and either the SALT MINES OF WIELICZKA or AUSCHWITZ

    One-day tour

    Duration: 15 ½ h
    Departure: 06:30 – Return: 22:00
    Price: 190 € / person (lunch included)

Listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and considered special even in such a distinguished company, Cracow’s enchanting Old Town boasts countless buildings of architectural and historic importance, including the Wawel Castle and the Cathedral complex, where kings of Poland and national heroes lie buried, and one of mediaeval Europe's largest market places with its Renaissance Cloth Hall and Gothic Church of St. Mary.

    We suggest 2 options:

Option A – Cracow and the Salt Mine Wieliczka

Option B – Cracow and Auschwitz Nazi Camp

Option A: The Salt Mine Wieliczka is the oldest salt enterprise on Polish land dating back to the Middle Ages. Today it is the most popular Polish tourist attraction and the mine is on the UNESCO's First World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Several hundreds of years of rock salt exploitation have shaped the spatial arrangement of its excavated structure. Lying on nine levels, concealed under the town, the mine reaches down to the depth of 327 meters. Subterranean Wieliczka consists of nearly 300 kilometers of corridors and almost 3,000 small rooms. The tourist route accessible to visitors includes a 3.5-kilometre section located from 64 to 135 meters below ground level.

Magnificent chapels, captivating underground lakes, original tools and equipment, traces of mining works allow us to understand the human struggle against the elements, their work, their passion and their beliefs.

Staying underground is particularly beneficial for people with upper respiratory tract problems and allergies. However, if you are claustrophobic, this visit is not recommended.

Option B: Auschwitz – the largest of the Nazi concentration camps during World War II. It has been the largest ‘death’ factory in the history of humanity and a silent witness to human tragedy. Auschwitz consisted of several units, including the largest one at Brzezinka (Birkenau). Of the millions of people brought there in the period between 1940 and 1944, only 60-70.000 utterly emaciated victims were alive at the time of liberation of the camp.

    The price includes:

-1st class rail ticket for Intercity or express train Warsaw – Cracow – Warsaw

    - sightseeing of Cracow conducted by local guides

    - lunch in a local restaurant

    - bus transportation in Warsaw and Cracow

    - Option A or option B tours

    - English hostess assistance

    - entrance fees

    JEWISH HERITAGE

    Duration: 4h

    Departure: 10:00 – Return: 14:00

    Price: 50 € /person

Visit the former Jewish part of Warsaw where about 380 000 Jews lived in 1939. This amounted to one third of the city’s population at that time. The only synagogue to have survived wartime was founded in 1902 by a wealthy Warsaw merchant, Zalman Nozyk and his wife, after whom the synagogue was named. Continue with the Umschlag-Platz on Stawki Street from where Germans deported 300 000 Jews to Treblinka during the summer 1942, and the Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, located on the square, which was once a site of the main bunker of the Jewish Combat Organisation.
