FAQ ISTANBUL 2020
The health and safety of our members, partners and staff is our number one priority. After due consideration of the current spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in many countries across the globe, BIR leadership has decided to postpone the upcoming BIR World Recycling Convention in Istanbul and reschedule the event on (11) 12-14 October 2020, the time slot previously allocated to our October event in Geneva. The convention will take place at the exact same venue, the Swissôtel The Bosphorus.
In the past days, we have talked to many of our members and heard their thoughts, concerns and fears about the situation. The rapid spread of the virus and the global health concerns, the growing trend of travel restrictions imposed by countries, companies and airlines, and the overall recommendation to avoid mass gatherings has led us to take this difficult but responsible decision.
The BIR World Recycling Convention & Exhibition has been rescheduled to October (11) 12-14, 2020, at the Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey

The health and safety of our delegates, speakers, sponsors and staff at the conference is our highest priority. As we monitor the situation in the lead up to October 2020, we will adapt our plans according to advice we receive from the WHO and other health authorities to ensure safety measures are in place for all attendees of the conference.
The precautions we were already looking into prior to rescheduling:
Nobody knows how the COVID-19 situation will continue to unfold. What we do know is that we believe we have made the best decision under the current circumstances to put the wellbeing of our delegates, partners and staff first.
The new extended cancellation policy put in place protects the attendees in case the current situation does not get better by 31 July 2020 (see point 4 above).
