A well-balanced and informative programme awaits us in Singapore

It is a complex market at present, with generally lower consumption but increasing base metal prices. International turmoil is rife, with worrying instability. Economies are starting to ease interest rates to stimulate consumption and the medium- to long-term trend remains bullish. Yet either way, metal merchants and consumers will continue to collect, upgrade and add value to support a circular economy.

Understanding trends, opportunities and risks are key to making informed decisions. It is exciting to have such a great array of speakers for our upcoming Convention in Singapore. To have two of the largest consumers in Asia and a leading economist share their thoughts is so vital to us all in gaining a more informed perspective. We are very fortunate to have Anthony Wong and Vivian Jiang speak about the choice of Thailand as a location for new smelting capacity and about the likely impact on their raw material procurement strategies, while Sean Davidson will add further depth from a macro level. Together, these contributions will deliver a balanced and interesting programme, aimed at keeping us all better informed.

I look forward to seeing you in Singapore.
