Pakistan

The overall non-ferrous metals outlook in Pakistan is sluggish, mostly because of limited developments in the real estate and construction sectors. During the month of Ramadan ending March 29, many government agencies and commercial enterprises are observing reduced working hours. In the event of slower demand and market oversupply, there is a need to encourage sales by implementing more appealing prices.

The provision of exceptional waivers and an expedited mechanism for export refunds/rebates in metals may be revoked, and the implementation of a proposed new amendment could impair the industry’s ability to freely export as much volume.

Recently, interest rates have been significantly reduced, with the government asserting its intention to lower them to single digits following an extended period of substantial inflation, devaluation and economic instability in Pakistan.
