Report for Scandinavia

Plastic recyclers are still in a difficult position as a result of declining prices and low demand. After a bad 2024, no change has been seen at the start of 2025 and the recycling sector remains under pressure. As normal, market activity and demand have picked up after the late December/early January holiday period, but prices and demand are still low and no optimism is to be found in the market.

Order levels are generally low for recycled materials, although premium and good qualities are moving. There is demand for polypropylene and for polystyrene but virgin grades coming in from the USA and other markets are pushing prices downwards.

Plastics recyclers all over Europe are struggling, as evidenced by the number of insolvencies and bankruptcies.
