Report for Romania

Since the beginning of the year, there have been many important developments in the plastics market - both in terms of values and volumes. The overall picture is not looking very optimistic.

Interest in LDPE granules has decreased, leading to a drop in price. The main reason is that, in January, factories usually prefer to use virgin granules instead of recycled ones. The same can be said about coloured LDPE granules.

Prices have also dropped for PP granules and regrind, with interest levels lower than last year. Blow HDPE is following a similar trend but injection HDPE is attracting constant demand, keeping the price similar to previous months.

Meanwhile, PET cannot be found in the local market, with prices decreasing as the return system in Romania has had a large impact on collections.

Plastics from e-scrap have experienced good demand but prices have decreased slightly. ABS, PC and PMMA plastics from industry are in constant demand, with quantities similar to previous months and very small price fluctuations in both directions. As for PS granules and regrind, demand is lower at present and prices have decreased too.
