Members of the Bureau of International Recycling’s (BIR) have elected Susie Burrage OBE as the new president at the Annual General Assembly on May 23 during the World Recycling Convention in Amsterdam.
Susie Burrage OBE took over the role from outgoing president Tom Bird, and plans to increase environmental impact volumes. Burrage also plans to showcase BIR with a view to highlight recycling as the sustainabilityforward, innovation-rich and economically vital industry that it is.
Since 2016, Susie Burrage OBE has been British Metals Recycling Association’s president and an active member of the BIR World Council of Recycling Associations. She has taken on several senior roles in the European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) including president of the European Metal Trade & Recycling Branch and served one term as EuRIC’s treasurer (2016-2019).
At BIR’s October 2022 Dubai Convention she was appointed the BIR Ambassadors Committee chairperson. In addition, Burrage is an Ambassador and board member of the Global Recycling Foundation, patron for the Bureau of Middle East Recycling as well as board member of BIR’s Non-Ferrous Metals Division.
