The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) invites all owners and operators of auto shredders over 1000 hp to participate in its latest safety survey. The online questionnaire is available in five languages (English, Chinese, French, German, Spanish).
The industry association plans to present the initial results of the survey at its autumn round-table meeting in Singapore at the end of October. The full analysis is to be released at the 2025 spring convention, BIR trade & environment policy officer Daniel Pietikäinen reported at this year's event in Copenhagen.
The survey is a means to collect original data for the industry, Mr Pietikäinen said. The results could be used by operators to benchmark their facility's safety performance against that of other shredder plants and to help improve safety on their sites, including by using them in safety briefings.
