Spotlight on global trade: Leadership in an economic and pandemic challenged world

For its upcoming World Recycling Convention Week, BIR has developed an exciting and fascinating novel event for attendees as a curtain raiser to a virtual convention which promises a dynamic and engaging week’s programme.

The opening event features two sequential extensive in-depth interviews respectively with the current BIR President Tom Bird and Susie Burrage (BMRA), a leading member of the up-and-coming generation of the BIR leadership team in conversations with Michael Lion, Chairman of the BIR International Trade Council (ITC).

Covering a wide range of aspects of the recycling industry’s current trade challenges, but also opportunities in a sustainability-centric world where recycling is the ultimate epitome of that word, the session will examine a diverse range of issues facing our members, including unfolding economic pressures, regulatory hurdles and political implications.

The conversations will provide valuable insights and increased understanding into how BIR and its leadership function and are providing practical assessments, initiatives and approaches at this turbulent time, as well as revealing the personal visions of Tom for the current and future aspirations of BIR as the global voice of the recycling industry and of Susie for the next generation of recyclers, in a rapidly changing world.
