One week to go until BIR Singapore 2024! International Trade Council announces programme: "Navigating global trade: geopolitical shifts, market liquidity and strategic industry adaptations"

International Trade Council:

"Navigating global trade: geopolitical shifts, market liquidity and strategic industry adaptations"

The international trade of recycled materials faces numerous challenges, driven by regulatory, political, economic, and environmental factors. Stricter regulations, such as the EU Waste Shipment Regulation, are complicating the export of recyclable and recycled materials, especially for countries like India that rely on imports to process these materials. These regulations add complexity, cost, and delays to trade operations.

These new rules add to the volatility of markets and commodity prices which are the ‘bread and butter’ of recycling companies and traders selling recyclable and recycled materials.

To navigate these challenges, businesses in the recycling industry must adapt by further improving material quality, navigating complex regulations, and staying agile amidst shifting economic and political conditions.

Recently appointed ITC Chairman Emmanuel Katrakis of Galloo (FRA/BEL) has gathered a panel of industry experts to address the most pressing geopolitical and economic factors influencing the future of international recycling trade.

Speakers and Panelists

Sanjay MehtaPresident of the Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI), will discuss the significant impact of the latest developments in India on the recycling industry, and how India is adapting to the entry into force of the EU Waste Shipments Regulation, thus providing crucial insights into international trade and policy shifts.

BIR Convention Chair Brian Henesey, Vice President of Rocky Mountain Recycling (USA) and past President of ReMA, will tackle the challenges posed by rising global tensions.
