BIR Director General Arnaud Brunet attends CMRA forum and visits metals recycling companies in China
BIR Director General Arnaud Brunet recently attended the 19th China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Recycling Metals Branch (CMRA) International Forum and Exhibition on 8-9 November 2019 in Ningbo, China.
The two-day forum’s theme was “New Era - New Journey - New Chapter” with a focus on the international recycling of non-ferrous metals in the new situation, the coordinated development of the metals recycling industry, recent developments and innovations in the non-ferrous metals markets, as well as the future of the global recycling metals industry. Topics of discussion revolved around challenges and changes in the recycling industry, green development, new recycling methods and strategies, new economic opportunities and trends in the renewable metals industry sector with and international perspective.
In his opening address, Mr Brunet thanked CMRA for their invitation and continuous support to BIR, and acknowledged the fact that the challenges faced by the industry would, in the longer run, represent an opportunity. According to him, “quality is the way up and the way out of the crises we face at present”. Best practices, internationally-recognised standards and sound environmental management systems, as well as appropriate and proportionate quality controlswere the key to creating a fruitful and positive global recycling market.
Mr Brunet concluded his trip in China with a visit of two metals recycling companies, the Shimao Copper Company in Ningbo and the Sigma Aluminum Company in Shanghai.
