One of BIR’s main objectives is to put at its members’ disposal reliable data and up-to-date information regarding all legal, commercial and technical/technological developments in the recycling sector. To achieve this, BIR has established a market-related information network among members while maintaining close contact with major supranational bodies (European Union, OECD, ICC, UNCTAD, UNEP etc.), national associations and the media.
BIR provides a platform for national member associations to share their knowledge and experience and to coordinate representation through their respective national governments into intergovernmental organisations on issues that affect the recycling business. As the world federation of the recycling industries with no national or regional affiliation, BIR represents the general interests of the recycling industries towards intergovernmental organisations such as the United Nations, the OECD, and on international recycling issues to the EU.
If you come across information that you think is relevant to the international recycling industry and which is not yet available on these pages, please contact us and let us know.
